Profile
Lorene F. Schaefer, Esq.is a skilled mediator, arbitrator and neutral, third-party workplace investigator, backed with over twenty years experience as an
attorney. Lorene also serves as an instructor for timely workplace and sensitivity training for employers, whether the employer is conducting the training
voluntarily or through settlement obligations.

Lorene has extensive experience litigating, mediating and arbitrating complex employment and business cases across the United States, including individual
and multi-plaintiff harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour matters and business disputes. For fourteen years, she was in-house counsel at the
General Electric Company and was a key member in the teams that implemented GE's landmark employee conflict management system at three of GE's
businesses in the 1990's. Lorene's last role at GE was General Counsel of GE Transportation, the then $4.2B global technology leader and supplier to the
railroad, transit, marine, mining, and wind industries with over 9,500 employees worldwide in 60+ services facilities.

As a neutral mediator and arbitrator, Lorene sees both sides of an issue and considers them impartially. Not only has Lorene represented and advised major
corporate employers, but she also was a named plaintiff in a gender discrimination and pay equity class action. Press Release Lorene, as a result, brings a
unique perspective to her role as mediator/arbitrator. This personal experience, along with her legal and negotiation expertise, provides a strong
foundation from which she is able to assess issues and forge conclusions and resolutions.

In addition to serving as a neutral mediator and arbitrator, Lorene also conducts neutral workplace investigations for One Mediation clients and over the
course of her two decade career, has spearheaded hundreds of complex and sensitive investigations into allegations of misconduct, including sexual
harassment, retaliation, discrimination, and violations of company policy. Her leadership and ability to quickly establish trust and confidence in the
integrity of the investigative process has led to the successful resolution of many situations and assisted in avoiding costly litigation.

Lorene enjoys an excellent reputation with both the plaintiff and defense bars. At GE, she was considered a "thoughtful leader" who "works hard to find
'win-win' solutions" and "stands up for what is right and fair." David Sanford, a named partner at the national plaintiff's firm of Sanford Wittels and Heisler LLP,
describes Lorene as an "incredibly talented, conscientious and driven attorney. Her attention to detail and relentless pursuit of justice, coupled with her dual
perspective as both a former in-house counsel for GE and a plaintiff, make her ideally suited as a mediator. I would highly recommend to both sides of the
bar."

Lorene lives in Atlanta, GA and is the mother of college age twin daughters and a fourteen-year-old son. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, kayaking,
gardening, cooking and creating mixed media artwork in her home studio.

Lorene is available nationwide as a mediator, arbitrator, and neutral, third-party workplace investigator and instructor. She is also available to consult with
employers wishing to implement or modify a system to manage and resolve workplace disputes.
